What Cred Counts collects, why, and what you can do about it. Written to be read, not survived.
Who is responsible
Cred Counts is run by Joseph Peirson, trading as Coasterbyte Studios, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For data protection purposes that means I am the “data controller”. You can reach me at support@credcounts.online, and I will provide a postal address on request.
What the app collects
| What | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address and display name, from Google sign-in | To create your account and sign you back in | Performance of a contract |
| Your profile photo, if your Google account has one | Shown on your profile and next to your activity | Performance of a contract |
| The rides you log: which ride, when, a rating, a note, a photo, who you rode with | This is the product. It is your record of what you have ridden | Performance of a contract |
| Your location, while you are using the app | To sort parks by distance and to know which park you are at when you check in | Consent, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings |
| Your location in the background, only if you turn it on | To alert you when a ride on your wishlist opens while you are at the park | Consent, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings |
| Trips, season passes and what you paid | To work out whether a pass has paid for itself | Performance of a contract |
| Friends, follows and reactions | To show you what people you follow have been on | Performance of a contract |
| A push notification token, if you allow notifications | To tell you when a ride opens or a friend does something | Consent, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings |
| Crash reports and error diagnostics | To find and fix crashes | Legitimate interests — keeping the app working |
What it does not do
Cred Counts does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, does not sell your data, does not show advertising, and does not build advertising profiles. There is no third-party analytics SDK watching what you tap.
Who else sees it
A small number of services process data so the app can work. They act on my instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes.
- Google Firebase — sign-in and authentication.
- RevenueCat — manages Cred Counts Pro subscriptions. Apple handles the payment itself; I never see your card details.
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- Hostinger — the servers the app and its database run on, in the EU.
- Apple — the App Store, push notification delivery and subscription billing.
Some of these are based outside the UK. Where data is transferred abroad it is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the equivalent standard contractual clauses.
What other people see
Some of what you log is visible to others by design, and it is worth being precise about which parts:
- Your display name, photo and username are visible to anyone who can find your profile.
- Friends and followers see the rides you log, the parks you visit and the photos you attach.
- If you make your profile public, that activity is visible to any signed-in user.
- What you paid for trips, tickets and passes is never shown to anyone else, and is deliberately excluded from the tools support staff can see.
How long it is kept
Your account and what you have logged are kept until you delete them. When you delete your account it is marked for deletion immediately and permanently erased after a 30-day grace period, which exists so an accidental deletion can be undone. Crash reports are kept for 90 days. Support messages are kept for two years.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask me to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how it is used, or provide it in a portable format. You can also withdraw consent for location or notifications at any time in iOS Settings, without losing access to the rest of the app.
You do not need to ask me to delete your account: Settings → Delete account inside the app does it. For anything else, email support@credcounts.online and I will respond within one month.
If you think I have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. I would rather you told me first so I can fix it.
If you are in California
You have the right to know what is collected, to delete it, and not to be discriminated against for asking. Cred Counts does not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Children
Cred Counts is not aimed at children under 13 and I do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email me and I will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will tell you. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
